The International Federation-Indonesia Delegation is looking for candidate to be based in Jakarta, Indonesia for the post of : Senior Disaster Preparedness and Planning Officer (12 Months Fixed Term contract)
Key tasks and responsibilities :
- Work with the PMI to analyze country trouble spots and high risk areas.
- Advise on the development of Disaster preparedness, planning and Early Warning
- policies, guidelines, operating procedures and work plans.
- Coordinate and support the linkages between the PMI disaster command center and other
- relevant departments of the PMI to ensure timely updates and alerts.
- Facilitate the development of training activities for improved assessment, monitoring and
- reporting on emergency situations.
- Encourage and support preparedness initiatives such as contingency planning, early warning and pre-positioning arrangements.
- Maintain updated information and resources on humanitarian issues and trends.
- Ensure the development of new and innovative disaster management approaches.
- Engaging with other International Organizations, the United Nations, NGOs and academic institutions in related areas.
- Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely reports are produced in accordance with the Federation guidelines.
- Produce regular, accurate and timely narrative and financial reports for the Federation and for donors.
- Assist in the design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation and impact meas-urement systems for emergency programs.
- When required respond to emergencies assisting in the coordinated support to disas-ters.
- Visit the project areas as and when necessary.
- Advise on program adjustment should unexpected events occur
Qualification & Experience :
- University degree in appropriate related field or discipline
- Experience of planning and managing budget.
- Experience of risk mapping, Vulnerability & Capacity Assessment on a local level.
- Experience of writing narrative and financial report
- Experience of working for the Red Cross and Red Crescent is preferred
- Knowledge of disaster, disaster management/risk reduction and disaster prevention and mitigation program is preferred
- Understanding and skills in relation to facilitating institutional development and organizational change is
- preferred.
- Understanding of opportunities and constraints for Disaster managment and Early Warning programming is preferred.
- Strong sense of responsibility and control.
- Excellent English Skills written and verbal
- Advanced skills in computers (Windows, spreadsheets, word-processing, email and internet).
- Presentation skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia
- Valid driving license is preferred
